That’s fucking cool. Was it the last one in the warehouse? Underneath the crates that haven’t been moved since Nixon was president?

My grandpa always tells the story of buying a surplus jeep when he got back from ww2. Came in a crate just like this.

Slightly more fun than a crate of Mosin Nagants.

Respecting the ancient tradition of not having breakfast on Christmas morning until the Lego Jeep has been assembled.

Man just imagine if they sold these like they sell side-by-side ATVs. I would get one over a RZR in a heartbeat.

Legends of this were widespread, and based on those legends, scam artists operated for years, to the point where the $50 Jeep in a crate is a cliche. I don’t know if there are any documented accounts of an actual Jeep in crate sale taking place, but if one or several ever did, they were almost certainly illegal or based on semi-smuggled unused Lend-Lease stock. The ones actually pushed back to the civilian market from the US gov via auction were assembled for service already, both overseas and at home, and were going for $500-$600 in used condition.

Just add your own choice of engine, transmission, t-case and axles.
Remember a few days ago when someone posted the question “What would you Hellcat?” Yeah, this would do nicely. 707 hp in this thing would make for an interesting time off the tarmac and on.

He is known for a tall tale or two. Pic of my dad’s flat fender, far from factory fresh. Note the floral print patio cushion option.

Friend of mine early on had a Willy’s, left it in 4-wheel on a tar road. A few miles into it, it stopped, wouldn’t go. We had to push it backwards to unwind the tranny/transfer cases so it could go back to 2 wheel.
I guess I wouldn’t mind getting one of these anyway. Wound up a 2005 Tacoma doing the same thing, last year. (Didn’t need to go backwards, prolly, but it helped I think.)
And think of it! Delivered from Amazon on their new [C-5] drone service! Right to your GPS coords, modulo wind and error, of course.
